Without Ali and Chuck Norris, the Alive reading of combat sports brings Oleksandr Usyk and Jon Jones into the fifteen.
Mike Tyson is the most famous living figure in combat sports for August 2026. With Muhammad Ali absent from the Alive reading, the former heavyweight champion leads at 21.4, four tenths ahead of Khabib Nurmagomedov at 21. Conor McGregor is third at 20.4, and the three UFC names that follow, Ilia Topuria at 19.9, Islam Makhachev at 19.2 and Manny Pacquiao at 17.2, keep the top six within four points.
The Russian block is the living list's clearest pattern. Nurmagomedov, Makhachev and Khamzat Chimaev, twelfth at 13.2, are all products of the Dagestani wrestling and sambo tradition, and between them they hold three of the top twelve places in a sector the United States dominates by headcount. Two names enter the fifteen because Ali and Chuck Norris left it. Brock Lesnar, the wrestler and former fighter, is eleventh, and Dana White, who runs the UFC, thirteenth.
Ninety of the 94 names measured are living. The ranking measures worldwide fame rather than quality, and among the living the balance has tipped: of the fifteen, nine made their names in mixed martial arts or its promotion, and six in boxing.
