With Babe Ruth removed, the Alive reading for August 2026 shows Ohtani far ahead of every current player and a Venezuelan catcher entering the top fifteen.
Babe Ruth is the only name the Alive reading takes from baseball's top fifteen for August 2026, and his absence changes little at the top and a fair amount below it. Michael Jordan still leads at 23.3, an adjacent figure the sector tag places here, and Shohei Ohtani remains the most famous active player at 19.4. Eighty of the 84 names measured are living, so this reading is close to the whole sport as it exists today.
Ohtani's lead over other current players is the story. Mookie Betts is third at 8.9, Ichiro Suzuki, retired after 28 seasons in Japan and the United States, fourth at 8.8. No other active player reaches nine. Pete Alonso of Baltimore and Jacob Misiorowski of Milwaukee complete the group.
