Ohtani is baseball's most famous player, but Michael Jordan sits above him

A basketball great leads the August 2026 baseball list, the Dodgers supply four of the top nine, and Babe Ruth is the only dead name in the group.
Shohei Ohtani, the Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter and pitcher, is the most famous baseball player in the world for August 2026 with a score of 19.4. He is not, however, the most famous name on the baseball list. That is Michael Jordan at 23.3, a reminder that the sector tag follows where the world's attention groups people, and that Jordan's brief spell in the game left a mark that still registers.
The distance between Ohtani and the next player is enormous. Eighty-four names are measured across 17 countries and 80 are living. The United States supplies 22, Venezuela eight, the Dominican Republic six and Japan three, but the three Japanese names hold three of the top twelve places. Jacob Misiorowski, the Brewers pitcher known as the Miz, is fifteenth. The ranking measures worldwide fame, and on that scale baseball's fame runs through Los Angeles and Tokyo more than through the game's traditional heartland.
