Only 23 of the 89 names measured in art and design for August 2026 are living, and the first of them is a Canadian rock singer who also works as a photographer.
Vincent van Gogh and Pablo Picasso share first place in art and design for August 2026, both on a score of 23, and neither has painted in a very long time. That is the character of the whole list. Eighty-nine names are measured across 21 countries, and only 23 are alive. The dead do not merely hold high places here; they hold nearly all of them.
