The three Khans, two Bachchans by marriage and a Toronto-born dancer shape the August 2026 Hindi cinema list, with Sridevi the highest-placed of the dead.
Shah Rukh Khan is the most famous figure in Hindi cinema for August 2026, with a score of 19.9, and Salman Khan is close behind at 18.5. Aishwarya Rai, the former Miss World who has worked in Hindi and Tamil films for more than two decades, is third at 16.5. Alia Bhatt, the highest-paid star of the current generation, is fourth at 16.3, and Amitabh Bachchan, whose career reaches back through five decades of the industry, is fifth at 16.1. Four points separate first from fifth, which makes this one of the tightest tops in the issue.
The list is almost entirely Indian. Ninety-nine names are measured across six countries and 94 carry an Indian passport. The exception in the top ten is Nora Fatehi at eighth, a Canadian singer and dancer born in Toronto to Moroccan parents who moved to Mumbai at nineteen and built her career there.
Kareena Kapoor is sixth at 13.8 and Aamir Khan, who completes the trio of Khans, seventh at 13.5. Deepika Padukone is tenth, Akshay Kumar eleventh, Hrithik Roshan twelfth and Ajay Devgn thirteenth, all of them stars whose careers have run for twenty years or more. Madhuri Dixit is fifteenth.
Ninety of the measured names are living. Sridevi, who died in 2018, holds fourteenth at 11.2, the highest place among the dead, and her presence seven years on shows how durable an actress of her stature remains in the world's attention. The ranking measures fame rather than merit. On that measure Hindi cinema's fame remains concentrated in a generation that came up in the 1990s and 2000s, with Bhatt and Padukone the only leading names in the top ten to have debuted more recently.
