Burna Boy and Tyla set the pace as Nigeria fills the Afrobeats table

A Nigerian and a South African hold the top two places for August 2026, and 42 of the 92 names measured come from Nigeria alone.
Burna Boy is the most famous Afrobeats artist in the world for August 2026, with a score of 16.1, and the Port Harcourt-raised singer and producer has a South African for company at the top. Tyla, the singer and songwriter whose rise has been the fastest in the sector, is second at 15. The gap to third is wide. Davido follows at 11.3, then Rema, whose 2019 single Dumebi first brought him notice, at 10.4, and Tems, singer, songwriter and producer, at 9.1. Wizkid, one of the sound's founding modern figures, sits sixth at 8.9.
That order tells a clear story. Ninety-two names are measured across 20 countries, and 42 of them are Nigerian. South Africa has 14, the Democratic Republic of the Congo ten and Ghana four. Nigeria supplies the volume and most of the fame at the top, while Tyla shows that a single South African voice can hold the attention of the world on her own.
The sector tag gathers a few adjacent figures, among them Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind and Fire at seventh and the Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi at ninth. Between them sits Tiwa Savage, often called the Queen of Afrobeats, at 8.3.
