Erdoğan first, then a wall of singers on Turkey's list

Seven of the fifteen most famous names connected to Turkey in August 2026 are recording artists, and the list draws on fourteen countries.
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who has dominated Turkish public life for more than two decades, is the most famous person connected to Turkey in August 2026, at a score of 46.5. Ajda Pekkan, called the reigning queen of Turkish pop, is second at 35.9, and the list beneath her belongs largely to music.
Ahmet Kaya, the Turkish-Kurdish folk singer whose work became bound up with Kurdish cultural rights, is third at 33.1, a quarter century after his death. Hande Yener is fourth, Sibel Can fifth, Sertab Erener, the coloratura soprano turned pop singer, seventh, Sezen Aksu, born in Sarayköy in 1954, tenth, and İbrahim Tatlıses, the Arabesk singer and former politician, fourteenth. Seven singers in fifteen places; no other country list in this issue leans so far toward music.
Three more of the fifteen are dead. Muhammad, the founder of Islam, is sixth at 30.6, a reflection of attention rather than nationality. Fethullah Gülen, the preacher whose movement claimed millions of followers, is thirteenth, and Nâzım Hikmet, the country's most celebrated twentieth-century poet, fifteenth. Politics returns with Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu at eleventh and Ekrem İmamoğlu, mayor of Istanbul, at twelfth.
Football supplies two names: Cristiano Ronaldo, eighth, and Arda Güler, the Real Madrid midfielder, ninth. Of the top hundred, 62 are Turkish and 21 American, with fourteen countries represented, and 83 are living. The total measured is 385, the fourth largest in the issue, and the confidence label is medium.
