Four names, one Nobel novelist: Colombia's list is short and García Márquez leads it

The August 2026 Colombia table measures only four people, and the author of One Hundred Years of Solitude outranks an actor and two politicians.
Colombia's list for August 2026 has four lines. Gabriel García Márquez, the novelist, short story writer and journalist known to readers as Gabo, leads with a score of 30.5, twelve years after his death. John Leguizamo, the Colombian-American actor who moves between comedy and drama, is second at 22.4. Álvaro Uribe Vélez, president from 2002 to 2010, is third at 18.3, and Iván Cepeda, the human rights activist and philosopher who is one of the leading figures of the Colombian left, fourth at 10.1.
That is the whole table, and it needs explaining. The country scope gathers people whose public life the engine can tie to Colombia in the month measured. It found four, all Colombian, three of them living. The country's singers and footballers, the names the world most readily attaches to it, do not appear here, and their absence is a matter of evidence coverage rather than a judgment on their fame.
