Malala leads Pakistan, and seven of the top fifteen are dead

The August 2026 Pakistan list puts a Nobel laureate above every prime minister and president, living or dead.
Malala Yousafzai, who became the youngest Nobel Peace laureate at 17 in 2014, is the most famous Pakistani in the world for August 2026, with a fame score of 15.6. Behind her the list turns almost entirely to politics, and to a striking degree to the dead.
Imran Khan, the cricketer who became the 22nd Prime Minister, is second at 12.7. Shehbaz Sharif, the current premier, is third at 12.6, and Asif Ali Zardari, President twice over, fifth at 12.4. Between them, at fourth with 12.5, is Benazir Bhutto, assassinated in 2007. Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of the state, is sixth. Pervez Musharraf is eighth, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto ninth, Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq thirteenth and Ayub Khan fifteenth. The standard reading places everyone on one scale, and on it six dead leaders hold their ground against the men in office now.
Nawaz Sharif, seventh, is the third Sharif-era name. Asim Munir, head of the armed forces, is tenth at 9.1. Abdus Salam, who shared the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physics, is eleventh, the second laureate on the list and one of seven dead names in the fifteen. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the Kuwaiti-born militant, is twelfth, a reminder that worldwide attention is not admiration. Kumail Nanjiani, the Pakistani-American comedian and actor, is fourteenth and the only entertainer in the fifteen.
Thirty-five people were measured and only 22 are living. Seven of the top fifteen, and thirteen of the whole list, have died, the highest proportion in this region. Pakistan's worldwide fame is, more than most countries', a matter of history.
