Take the dead off the Mexico list and the top does not change, but the middle does. Salma Hayek still leads at 19.0. Lupita Nyong'o and Guillermo del Toro, level at 16.1, move up to second and third. Thalía is fourth, Claudia Sheinbaum, the country's first woman president, fifth, and Canelo Álvarez sixth.
The names that vanish are the ones that gave the standard list its historical weight: Frida Kahlo, second on the one-scale table; Leon Trotsky, eighth; Anthony Quinn, fourteenth; Benito Juárez, fifteenth.
