Keanu Reeves leads a Lebanon list where the diaspora outshines Beirut

An actor born in Beirut, a media personality, a barrister and a pop singer hold the top four for August 2026; the country's own politicians start at fifth.
Keanu Reeves, born in Beirut and raised in Toronto, is the most famous person from Lebanon in the world for August 2026, with a fame score of 21.0. He is more than five points ahead of anyone else, and the three names behind him also made their careers outside the country: Mia Khalifa, the Lebanese-American media personality, at 15.4; Amal Clooney, the Lebanese-British barrister, at 12.4; and Mika, the British-Lebanese singer-songwriter, at 12.0.
Lebanon's own public life begins at fifth with Joseph Aoun, the former army general who became president in January 2025, at 11.5. Nawaf Salam, Prime Minister since February 2025, is eleventh, Naim Qassem, Secretary-General of Hezbollah since October 2024, thirteenth, and Michel Aoun, president from 2016 to 2022, fifteenth. Luis Abinader, President of the Dominican Republic since 2020 and of Lebanese descent, sits at twelfth, a diaspora politician outranking two of the country's own.
The music is the most Lebanese part of the list. Fairuz, the singer whose career reaches back to the 1950s, is seventh at 11.0, Nancy Ajram eighth and Haifa Wehbe ninth. Two members of System of a Down, Serj Tankian at sixth and John Dolmayan at fourteenth, are Armenian-Americans with Lebanese roots. Nassim Nicholas Taleb, essayist and statistician, is tenth.
Twenty-nine people were measured and every one of them is living, which is unusual for a country with Lebanon's history. The absence of any dead name in the top fifteen is a sign of how much of Lebanon's worldwide attention is carried by people who left it.
