Bieber leads a Canadian list where singers outnumber actors and nobody is dead

The Canada origin table for August 2026 is a pop chart first and a film credits list second, with Mark Carney the only politician near the top.
Justin Bieber is the most famous person from Canada in the world for August 2026, with a fame score of 39, nearly twelve points clear of the field. Drake is second at 27.3, Céline Dion third at 26.8 and The Weeknd fourth at 25. Four musicians in four different registers, pop, rap, ballad and R&B, before a single actor appears.
The actors do arrive, and in numbers. Ryan Gosling is sixth at 22.9, Ryan Reynolds seventh at 21.1, Jim Carrey eighth at 20.2, Pamela Anderson eleventh and Elliot Page fourteenth. James Cameron, the filmmaker and deep-sea explorer, is thirteenth at 17.9. But music holds nine of the top fifteen once Avril Lavigne at fifth, Shania Twain and Bryan Adams tied at 19.3, and Alanis Morissette at fifteenth are counted. Canada's export to the world's attention is, above all, sound.
Politics registers once. Mark Carney, the central banker who became prime minister in 2025, is twelfth at 18.4, ahead of Cameron and Page. No other office-holder appears in the top fifteen.
The scope measured 275 names, among the largest origin pools in the issue, and 90 of the 100 published are living. Nobody in the top fifteen is dead. The oldest career on the list belongs to Céline Dion, whose international breakthrough came in the early 1990s, and the pattern of the whole table is one of performers who crossed the border south. Nearly every name here did their defining work in the United States, and the ranking measures where the world's attention goes, which for Canadians has long meant Los Angeles and Nashville as much as Toronto and Montreal.
