Singapore's living list is its whole list, with no history in it at all

iFAMOUS Editorial Desk · 1 min read

Every name measured for Singapore in August 2026 is alive, which makes the Alive reading a study in how a young state's fame is carried by its office-holders.

Nothing changes between Singapore's standard and Alive readings for August 2026, because all fifteen measured names are living. Lee Hsien Loong leads at 21.3, Lawrence Wong is second, Tharman Shanmugaratnam third and Goh Chok Tong fourth. What the living reading makes plain is that Singapore is one of the few countries in this issue with no deceased name anywhere on its table.

That is partly a coverage fact and partly a real one. The city-state's public life is recent enough that its founding generation and its serving leaders overlap in living memory, and three of the four figures at the top of the table have between them held the prime minister's office continuously since 1990. Wong's second place after little more than two years in the job, within two points of his predecessor, shows how quickly the office transfers attention.

The living list is also mostly foreign below the politicians. Billie Eilish, Zara Larsson and Post Malone occupy fifth to seventh, and Jay Chou, Alex Warren, Daniel Caesar, Sienna Spiro and Silence Wang fill five of the last seven places. Eight of fifteen names are not Singaporean, a higher share than almost any other country list here.

Fandi Ahmad at eighth is the one Singaporean athlete, Anthony Chen at twelfth the one filmmaker. No Singaporean singer or actor is measured this month, and the confidence label of low reflects how much of the country's own culture the list has yet to reach.

    About this list

This list ranks the most famous people connected to Singapore as of August 2026, by overall fame rather than one month's attention: the top 15 of 15 names the rankings measured for Singapore, frozen as the permanent record of that edition. This is the Alive reading: living people only. The standard reading ranks everyone, living or dead, on one scale, and is one click away.

Lee Hsien Loong is No. 1 on this list for August 2026. Behind Lee Hsien Loong come Lawrence Wong and Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

    What famous means here

Fame, in iFAMOUS, is how widely the world knows a name: how recognisable a person's name, face or work is, and how well people know who they are. It is assessed from extensive historical and current public data, some of it reaching back more than twenty years, and it is not merit, talent, importance or popularity on iFANN. The rankings model real-world global fame, not internet fame; the data is the instrument, not the subject. Activity on iFANN itself is excluded.

The month in the title is the date of this edition, not the period measured. The list is a snapshot of overall fame as it stood when the issue was frozen: a name does not lose its place because one month was quiet, and a trending moment alone does not put a name here. Trending attention is published separately on ifann.net.

    How the list was ranked

The iFANN Global Fame Rankings combine worldwide Wikipedia readership across languages, worldwide news coverage and search interest anchored against stable reference names, with search history reaching back to 2004. A twelve-month baseline sits behind the current reading and short-lived surges are capped, so the list reflects durable recognition rather than one week of headlines. Rankings are computed daily on ifann.net and frozen on the second day of the following month as that month's issue; a published issue never changes.

    About Singapore

Singapore is one of the countries and regions the journal ranks every month. Country lists use the same rankings and the same scale as The 100, so a name can be compared with its neighbours and against the world.
