Davido first, Tinubu second: Nigeria's fame is Afrobeats before the presidency

Seven musicians fill Nigeria's August 2026 top fifteen, with Jesus and Muhammad the two dead names in the top seven and Victor Osimhen the only footballer.
Davido is the most famous person connected to Nigeria in August 2026, and he leads the country's president. The singer and producer scores 74.9; Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in office since May 2023, is second on 66.2; Wizkid, one of the most influential figures in Afrobeats and global pop, is third on 61.3. A musician above a head of state at the top of a national table is rare, and Nigeria then does it again and again down the list.
Burna Boy is fifth, Asake sixth, Rema eighth, Ayra Starr tenth and Seyi Vibez twelfth. Seven musicians in fifteen places, all of them living and all of them from the Afrobeats generation, is one of the deepest music benches on any national table. The only footballer, Victor Osimhen, is ninth on 47.6.
The dead names are religious. Jesus Christ is fourth on 58.4 and Muhammad seventh on 50.1, the two figures at the centre of the country's two great faiths sitting side by side in the top seven, above every politician but Tinubu. Muhammadu Buhari, military head of state in the 1980s and elected president from 2015, is eleventh and is also recorded among the dead. Olusegun Obasanjo is thirteenth, Aliko Dangote, the wealthiest person in Africa, fourteenth, and Elon Musk, at fifteenth, is the only foreign living entry.
