Three of the top three in August 2026 are gone, and Sheikh Hasina is the highest-placed living name, one point ahead of Lionel Messi.

Kazi Nazrul Islam, the poet, musician and revolutionary who is the country's national poet, is second at 40.0. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the first president of Bangladesh, is third at 38.7. The fourth name is the first living one, and it is his daughter: Sheikh Hasina, prime minister from 1996 to 2001 and again from 2009 to 2024, at 38.3.
The rest of the top fifteen is a political roll call interrupted by football. Khaleda Zia, the first woman to serve as prime minister, holds sixth after her death, and Ziaur Rahman, the army chief and president assassinated in 1981, is twelfth.
