Stan, Comăneci and Moldova's president lead a Romania list with no dead names

The August 2026 Romania list is topped by a Marvel actor and a gymnast, with footballers, a tennis champion and a Eurodance producer behind.
Sebastian Stan, the Romanian-born American actor who has played Bucky Barnes across a decade of Marvel films, is the most famous person from Romania in the world for August 2026, with a fame score of 12.8. Nadia Comăneci, the five-time Olympic gold medallist who now lives in the United States, is second at 11.0. Both left the country young, and both carry more attention abroad than anyone who stayed.
Third place goes to a head of state, but not Romania's. Maia Sandu, President of Moldova since December 2020, scores 10.9. Ilie Bolojan, Prime Minister of Romania since June 2025, is seventh at 8.8. Dan Balan, tenth, is also Moldovan, the founder of O-Zone, the Eurodance group whose single the whole world knew in 2004. The Romanian origin list, in other words, reaches across the Prut.
