Morocco's living list adds Adil Rami as Just Fontaine drops out
iFAMOUS Editorial Desk · 1 min read
The Alive reading for August 2026 loses one name from the standard top fifteen, and the rest is the King, the squad and the rappers.
One change separates Morocco's living list from its standard one for August 2026: Just Fontaine, the Marrakesh-born French striker who died in 2023, leaves fourteenth place, and Adil Rami, the French former centre-back, enters at fifteenth with 7.5. Everything else holds. Emiliano Martínez and Cesc Fàbregas still occupy the top two through the way attention groups people rather than through any Moroccan career, and Mohammed VI, on the throne since 1999, remains the most famous Moroccan at 11.7.
The living reading is a squad list. Hakim Ziyech at 10.0, Ayyoub Bouaddi at 9.8, Sofyan Amrabat at 9.1, Azzedine Ounahi and Youssef En-Nesyri at 8.3 and Abde Ezzalzouli at 7.6 are all current or recent Morocco internationals, and Rami's arrival adds a seventh professional footballer of Moroccan descent. Bouaddi, born in France, and Rami, born in Corsica, show the direction of that pipeline: French-raised players choosing, or being claimed by, the country of their parents.
The non-footballers are a monarch, a prime minister, an heir, two musicians and a runner. Aziz Akhannouch has led the government since September 2021. Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, thirteenth, is the only royal besides his father. French Montana at sixth and RedOne at eighth both made their names in American studios. Hicham El Guerrouj, ninth, retired two decades ago and still holds attention through a world record nobody has broken.
Of 108 people measured, 107 are living. Fontaine was the exception, and his departure from the Alive reading is the only sign on this list that Morocco's fame has a past as well as a present.
About this list
This list ranks people from Morocco by their overall worldwide fame rather than local attention, as assessed for August 2026: the top 100 of 107 names, frozen as the permanent record of that edition. This is the Alive reading: living people only. The standard reading ranks everyone, living or dead, on one scale, and is one click away.
Emiliano Martínez is No. 1 on this list for August 2026. Behind Emiliano Martínez come Cesc Fàbregas and Mohammed VI of Morocco.
What famous means here
Fame, in iFAMOUS, is how widely the world knows a name: how recognisable a person's name, face or work is, and how well people know who they are. It is assessed from extensive historical and current public data, some of it reaching back more than twenty years, and it is not merit, talent, importance or popularity on iFANN. The rankings model real-world global fame, not internet fame; the data is the instrument, not the subject. Activity on iFANN itself is excluded.
The month in the title is the date of this edition, not the period measured. The list is a snapshot of overall fame as it stood when the issue was frozen: a name does not lose its place because one month was quiet, and a trending moment alone does not put a name here. Trending attention is published separately on ifann.net.
How the list was ranked
The iFANN Global Fame Rankings combine worldwide Wikipedia readership across languages, worldwide news coverage and search interest anchored against stable reference names, with search history reaching back to 2004. A twelve-month baseline sits behind the current reading and short-lived surges are capped, so the list reflects durable recognition rather than one week of headlines. Rankings are computed daily on ifann.net and frozen on the second day of the following month as that month's issue; a published issue never changes.
About Morocco
Morocco is one of the countries and regions the journal ranks every month. Country lists use the same rankings and the same scale as The 100, so a name can be compared with its neighbours and against the world.
