Rybakina and Golovkin put sport ahead of two presidents on Kazakhstan's list

A Wimbledon champion born in Moscow leads the August 2026 list of people from Kazakhstan, with a boxer, a sitting president and his predecessor behind her.
Elena Rybakina is the most famous person from Kazakhstan in the world for August 2026. The tennis player, born in Moscow and a fixture at the top of the WTA Tour, scores 13.9, nearly three points clear of Gennady Golovkin, the former boxer who fought from 2006 to 2022 and holds second at 11.0.
Politics arrives in third and fourth, and in the right order. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President since 2019, scores 10.8; Nursultan Nazarbayev, who ran the country from independence in 1991 until 2019, scores 10.5. The two men who have governed Kazakhstan for its entire modern life hold less attention between them than a tennis player and a boxer, which is a reminder that the list measures worldwide recognition, not power.
