Bardghji, Alafasy and three Al-Sabahs: everyone on Kuwait's list is still here

iFAMOUS Editorial Desk · 1 min read

The Alive reading of the August 2026 Kuwait list loses nobody, and its shape is a footballer, a reciter and the state.

Nobody drops out when the Kuwait list is restricted to the living, because all five people measured are alive. Roony Bardghji, the Barcelona winger who represents Sweden, holds the top place at 9.7, and Mishari bin Rashid Alafasy, the Quran reciter and imam, follows at 7.8. Between them they account for most of the attention the world pays to anyone from Kuwait in August 2026.

The living list is therefore also a generational one. Bardghji is a teenager whose career is just starting in Catalonia. Alafasy has spent decades building an audience through recitation and nasheed recordings. Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, third at 4.0, took office as Prime Minister in May 2024; Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, fourth at 3.8, is the Crown Prince. Alaa Hussein Ali, fifth at 2.9, is a figure from the 1990 occupation, still living and still the only name here whose fame is entirely historical.

There is no dead Kuwaiti with enough worldwide attention to register, which is unusual for a Gulf state with a long line of emirs. The engine measures what the world looks up, not what a country remembers, and on that measure Kuwait's past does not compete with its present.

Three of the five names carry the Al-Sabah surname or a tie to the state, and the two that do not are the two that lead. That is a small list, but it draws a clear line between fame that is inherited and fame that is earned abroad.

    About this list

This list ranks people from Kuwait by their overall worldwide fame rather than local attention, as assessed for August 2026: the top 5 of 5 names, frozen as the permanent record of that edition. This is the Alive reading: living people only. The standard reading ranks everyone, living or dead, on one scale, and is one click away.

Roony Bardghji is No. 1 on this list for August 2026. Behind Roony Bardghji come Mishari bin Rashid Alafasy and Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah.

    What famous means here

Fame, in iFAMOUS, is how widely the world knows a name: how recognisable a person's name, face or work is, and how well people know who they are. It is assessed from extensive historical and current public data, some of it reaching back more than twenty years, and it is not merit, talent, importance or popularity on iFANN. The rankings model real-world global fame, not internet fame; the data is the instrument, not the subject. Activity on iFANN itself is excluded.

The month in the title is the date of this edition, not the period measured. The list is a snapshot of overall fame as it stood when the issue was frozen: a name does not lose its place because one month was quiet, and a trending moment alone does not put a name here. Trending attention is published separately on ifann.net.

    How the list was ranked

The iFANN Global Fame Rankings combine worldwide Wikipedia readership across languages, worldwide news coverage and search interest anchored against stable reference names, with search history reaching back to 2004. A twelve-month baseline sits behind the current reading and short-lived surges are capped, so the list reflects durable recognition rather than one week of headlines. Rankings are computed daily on ifann.net and frozen on the second day of the following month as that month's issue; a published issue never changes.

    About Kuwait

Kuwait is one of the countries and regions the journal ranks every month. Country lists use the same rankings and the same scale as The 100, so a name can be compared with its neighbours and against the world.
