Caicedo and Hincapié put Ecuador's defence ahead of three presidents
iFAMOUS Editorial Desk · 1 min read
The Ecuador origin table for August 2026 has 22 measured names, all living, and the Premier League holds the top two.
Moisés Caicedo, the Chelsea midfielder, is the most famous person from Ecuador in the world for August 2026, scoring 10.8. Piero Hincapié, the Arsenal defender, is second at 10.5. Two players in their mid-twenties, both in London, both starters for the national team, lead the country's list, and the sitting president has to settle for third: Daniel Noboa, in office since November 2023, scores 9.9.
The scope is small, 22 names, and every one of them is living. Ecuador's fame abroad, as the engine measures it, has no dead names at all, which makes this a list about the last twenty years. Football holds ten of the fifteen seats. Willian Pacho of Paris Saint-Germain is fourth at 8.8. Antonio Valencia, the former Manchester United captain, is sixth at 7.4, and Enner Valencia, who captains Ecuador and plays for Pachuca, is seventh. Pervis Estupiñán of AC Milan, Kendry Páez, on loan at River Plate from Chelsea, Gonzalo Plata of Flamengo and the Argentine-born goalkeeper Hernán Galíndez complete the squad.
Politics holds four seats, and they are four consecutive presidents. Rafael Correa, who governed from 2007 to 2017, is fifth at 7.4. Lenín Moreno, who followed him, is thirteenth. Guillermo Lasso, president from 2021 to 2023, is tenth. Noboa, the current president, is third.
That leaves one name from outside sport and government. Mike Judge, the Ecuadorian-born American animator whose satires have shaped television comedy for three decades, is ninth at 6.7. Richard Carapaz, the cyclist, is twelfth. Scores are tightly packed, six points from first to fifteenth, and a good season in London could reshuffle the top by next issue.

About this list
This list ranks people from Ecuador by their overall worldwide fame rather than local attention, as assessed for August 2026: the top 22 of 22 names, frozen as the permanent record of that edition. This is the standard reading: everyone, living or dead, on one scale. 22 of the 22 listed are living; the Alive reading restricts the same ranking to living people.
Moisés Caicedo is No. 1 on this list for August 2026. Behind Moisés Caicedo come Piero Hincapié and Daniel Noboa.
What famous means here
Fame, in iFAMOUS, is how widely the world knows a name: how recognisable a person's name, face or work is, and how well people know who they are. It is assessed from extensive historical and current public data, some of it reaching back more than twenty years, and it is not merit, talent, importance or popularity on iFANN. The rankings model real-world global fame, not internet fame; the data is the instrument, not the subject. Activity on iFANN itself is excluded.
The month in the title is the date of this edition, not the period measured. The list is a snapshot of overall fame as it stood when the issue was frozen: a name does not lose its place because one month was quiet, and a trending moment alone does not put a name here. Trending attention is published separately on ifann.net.
How the list was ranked
The iFANN Global Fame Rankings combine worldwide Wikipedia readership across languages, worldwide news coverage and search interest anchored against stable reference names, with search history reaching back to 2004. A twelve-month baseline sits behind the current reading and short-lived surges are capped, so the list reflects durable recognition rather than one week of headlines. Rankings are computed daily on ifann.net and frozen on the second day of the following month as that month's issue; a published issue never changes.
About Ecuador
Ecuador is one of the countries and regions the journal ranks every month. Country lists use the same rankings and the same scale as The 100, so a name can be compared with its neighbours and against the world.
