Rizal still outranks every living Filipino, with eight presidents behind him

A nineteenth-century national hero leads the August 2026 Philippines list, and half of the top fifteen are dead.
José Rizal, the writer, linguist and ophthalmologist whose novels helped ignite a revolution in the 1890s, is the most famous person connected to the Philippines in August 2026. His score of 60.8 is more than twelve points ahead of Manny Pacquiao, the boxer and former politician, at 48.3. The country's attention in the world begins with a man executed in 1896 and only then reaches the living.
Politics dominates what follows. Ferdinand Marcos, president from 1965 until his ouster in 1986, is third at 46.1. Rodrigo Duterte, president from 2016 to 2022, is fourth, and his successor Bongbong Marcos fifth. Corazon Aquino, the first woman to lead a country in Asia, is seventh, Emilio Aguinaldo eighth, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ninth, Benigno Aquino III tenth and Joseph Estrada fourteenth.
