Muhammad, then the King: Morocco's list is faith and monarchy, then football
iFAMOUS Editorial Desk · 1 min read
Morocco's August 2026 table places the founder of Islam above Mohammed VI, and Hakim Ziyech and Ayyoub Bouaddi as the only Moroccans among a crowd of foreign names.
Two names stand far above everyone else on Morocco's list for August 2026. Muhammad, the founder of Islam, leads on a score of 74.5, and Mohammed VI, King of Morocco since July 1999 and head of the Alawi dynasty, is second on 65.2. The third name, Cristiano Ronaldo, is thirty points below the King. In a table with 159 people measured, the summit belongs to religion and the throne, and nothing else comes close.
Football fills the next tier. Ronaldo at third, Lionel Messi at fourth and then the two Moroccan players: Hakim Ziyech, the attacking midfielder and winger, at fifth on 31.1, and Ayyoub Bouaddi, the French-born Lille midfielder who chose Morocco, at seventh on 26.4. Shakira sits between them at sixth. Ziyech and Bouaddi are the only Moroccans in the fifteen apart from the King.
Below them the table becomes a survey of world attention as seen from Rabat. Donald Trump is eighth, Michael Jackson ninth, Vladimir Putin tenth, Adolf Hitler eleventh, Eminem twelfth, Albert Einstein thirteenth, Elon Musk fourteenth and William Shakespeare fifteenth. Five of the fifteen are dead, and four of those five are the same historical figures who surface on many national lists when a country's own historical roster is thin.
Of the top hundred, 54 are Moroccan and 27 American, across 14 countries, and 91 are living. Evidence coverage is graded high. The standard reading puts everyone on one scale, and on that scale Morocco's attention divides clearly: the prophet and the King above everything, the national team's players next, and the world's loudest names filling in below.
About this list
This list ranks the most famous people connected to Morocco as of August 2026, by overall fame rather than one month's attention: the top 100 of 159 names the rankings measured for Morocco, frozen as the permanent record of that edition. This is the standard reading: everyone, living or dead, on one scale. 91 of the 100 listed are living; the Alive reading restricts the same ranking to living people.
Muhammad is No. 1 on this list for August 2026. Behind Muhammad come Mohammed VI of Morocco and Cristiano Ronaldo. Evidence coverage for this list is high, so its order can be quoted with confidence.
What famous means here
Fame, in iFAMOUS, is how widely the world knows a name: how recognisable a person's name, face or work is, and how well people know who they are. It is assessed from extensive historical and current public data, some of it reaching back more than twenty years, and it is not merit, talent, importance or popularity on iFANN. The rankings model real-world global fame, not internet fame; the data is the instrument, not the subject. Activity on iFANN itself is excluded.
The month in the title is the date of this edition, not the period measured. The list is a snapshot of overall fame as it stood when the issue was frozen: a name does not lose its place because one month was quiet, and a trending moment alone does not put a name here. Trending attention is published separately on ifann.net.
How the list was ranked
The iFANN Global Fame Rankings combine worldwide Wikipedia readership across languages, worldwide news coverage and search interest anchored against stable reference names, with search history reaching back to 2004. A twelve-month baseline sits behind the current reading and short-lived surges are capped, so the list reflects durable recognition rather than one week of headlines. Rankings are computed daily on ifann.net and frozen on the second day of the following month as that month's issue; a published issue never changes.
About Morocco
Morocco is one of the countries and regions the journal ranks every month. Country lists use the same rankings and the same scale as The 100, so a name can be compared with its neighbours and against the world.
