Sinner tops living Italy, and three foreigners sit between Meloni and Totti
iFAMOUS Editorial Desk · 1 min read
With Jesus, Michael Jackson and Mussolini removed, Italy's August 2026 Alive list admits Fedez, Marco Mengoni and Monica Bellucci.
Jannik Sinner is the most famous living person connected to Italy in August 2026, and he reaches the top only because the standard reading's leader, Jesus Christ, is not eligible here. His score of 74.3 puts him just ahead of Giorgia Meloni on 71.6, a tennis player and a prime minister separated by fewer than three points, and both of them ahead of every foreign name.
Those foreign names are the next three: Donald Trump, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, third to fifth. Francesco Totti at sixth is the first Italian after Meloni, which means that among the living the gap between the country's two leading figures and its next domestic name is filled entirely by visitors. It is a measure of how much Italian attention flows to American politics and to two footballers whose careers were made elsewhere.
The removal of Michael Jackson and Benito Mussolini opens places at the bottom, and Italy fills them with entertainers. Fedez, the Milan-born rapper and media personality, is thirteenth on 53.1. Marco Mengoni, one of the country's most enduring singers, is fourteenth. Monica Bellucci, who has worked across Italian, French and American cinema for three decades, is fifteenth, the only actor in the group.
The middle is unchanged: Vasco Rossi seventh, Jovanotti eighth, Adriano Celentano ninth, Valentino Rossi tenth, Matteo Berrettini eleventh and Laura Pausini twelfth. Six musicians in fifteen places makes the living Italian list a music table with sport and government at the top. The engine measured 204 living people in the scope. The living Italy the world watches is young at the summit, Sinner and Meloni, and long-serving everywhere else, from Celentano to Pausini.
About this list
This list ranks the most famous people connected to Italy as of August 2026, by overall fame rather than one month's attention: the top 100 of 204 names the rankings measured for Italy, frozen as the permanent record of that edition. This is the Alive reading: living people only. The standard reading ranks everyone, living or dead, on one scale, and is one click away.
Jannik Sinner is No. 1 on this list for August 2026. Behind Jannik Sinner come Giorgia Meloni and Donald Trump. Evidence coverage for this list is high, so its order can be quoted with confidence.
What famous means here
Fame, in iFAMOUS, is how widely the world knows a name: how recognisable a person's name, face or work is, and how well people know who they are. It is assessed from extensive historical and current public data, some of it reaching back more than twenty years, and it is not merit, talent, importance or popularity on iFANN. The rankings model real-world global fame, not internet fame; the data is the instrument, not the subject. Activity on iFANN itself is excluded.
The month in the title is the date of this edition, not the period measured. The list is a snapshot of overall fame as it stood when the issue was frozen: a name does not lose its place because one month was quiet, and a trending moment alone does not put a name here. Trending attention is published separately on ifann.net.
How the list was ranked
The iFANN Global Fame Rankings combine worldwide Wikipedia readership across languages, worldwide news coverage and search interest anchored against stable reference names, with search history reaching back to 2004. A twelve-month baseline sits behind the current reading and short-lived surges are capped, so the list reflects durable recognition rather than one week of headlines. Rankings are computed daily on ifann.net and frozen on the second day of the following month as that month's issue; a published issue never changes.
About Italy
Italy is one of the countries and regions the journal ranks every month. Country lists use the same rankings and the same scale as The 100, so a name can be compared with its neighbours and against the world.
