Cillian Murphy edges a four-way tie atop an Ireland list full of Americans

Only four of the 38 people measured in the Irish scope are Irish, and the August 2026 table is led by an actor who shares his score with three American pop stars.
Cillian Murphy is the most famous person connected to Ireland in August 2026, but only on a tiebreak. The Irish actor scores 22.1, and so do Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande immediately behind him. Justin Bieber follows on 21.5. It is an opening five that says as much about where Irish attention travels as about who Ireland produces.
The scope is small. Thirty-eight people were measured, with evidence coverage graded medium, and of those only four are Irish. Nineteen are American, seven British and two Canadian. The Irish four are all in the top fifteen: Murphy first, Roy Keane, the pundit and former midfielder, eighth on 20, Paul Mescal, among the most sought-after actors of his generation, ninth on 19.4, and Glen Hansard, frontman of The Frames from 1990, thirteenth. Hansard is recorded on this list among those no longer living, as is Bonnie Tyler, the Welsh singer with the husky voice, at fourteenth.
Pop dominates the rest. Zara Larsson of Sweden is sixth, Olivia Rodrigo seventh, Katy Perry eleventh, Miley Cyrus twelfth, and Olivia Dean, the Walthamstow singer who won a Grammy for Best New Artist, fifteenth. Two actors and one footballer are all that stand between Ireland and a table made entirely of singers.
Michael Jackson is the highest-placed dead name, level with Murphy at second. The standard reading scores everyone on one scale, living or not, and Jackson's durable attention holds a place that a living star would otherwise take. Of the 38 measured, 33 are living.
